팬그램어학원에서는 우뇌 독서 습득 교육 과정을 마치고 본격적인 아카데믹 리딩을 시작하게 합니다. 영어 습득을 전제로 한 자유로운 영어 독서 및 유창한 말하기 역량을 갖춘 학습자들이라야 수월하게 해낼 수 있는, 깊이가 남다른 영재 사고 독서 프로그램을 운영하기 때문입니다. 바로 '최상위 영어 독서'란 별칭을 갖고 있는 IRP, Insight Reaiding Program입니다.
IRP는 총 3년의 교육 과정으로 운영합니다.
IRP Level 1 은 총 4권의 워크북 시리즈로 제공합니다. 각 권에는 3권의 책에 대한 영재 사고 독서 활동을 담았습니다.
"IRP 프로그램은 뉴욕의 명문 트리니티스쿨 (Trinity School) 4,5,6학년 학생들의 필독 도서를 기초로 만들어졌습니다. 이 필독 도서 리스트는 읽기 레벨은 온레벨(on level)로, 사고력 지수는 어보브레벨(above level)로 맞춰져 있는 것이 특징입니다."
Depth&Complexity
IRP에서는 학습자가 독서의 과정 가운데 자신의 생각을 원활하게 끌어낼 수 있도록 하기 위해서 뎁스 앤 콤플렉시티(Depth&Complexity)라는 특별한 사고의 툴을 사용합니다. .Depth&Complexity는 미국 남가주대학(USC)의 캐플런(Kaplan) 박사가 만든 개념으로, 학습자가 고도의 사고를 하도록 자극하는 11가지 아이콘을 도입합니다.

Language of the Discipline:
Understanding the meaning and function of words, phrases, and techniques used in narratives
Patterns:
Analyzing narrative plots in search of themes, symbols, and motifs
Big Idea:
Determining the overarching statements that best summarizes a narrative

Analyzing and evaluating the narrative to identify and describe the structure of the genre
Trends:
Analyzing and evaluating causes and effects of changes within a narrative, in order to better predict outcomes

Analyzing and evaluating conflicts within a narrative

Examining ambiguities within a narrative then making use of context clues to infer resolutions to discrepancies

Explore and discuss intersectionality of ideas, events, and topics across different subject areas and disciplines

In-depth analysis and discussion of the impact of changes in ideas, activity, and understanding over time
Multiple Perspectives:
Investigating the knowledge and opinions of different characters and people, afforded by their points of view given the differences in roles, responsibilities, values, and status
